Character Concept: Rosetta Stern
This project was for an internal art test at uni, where I was given a brief to design a character. My process included creating silhouettes in alchemy as well as drawing my own, which I then combined to get some unique shapes. Alongside this, I did a few face variations, which I then combined to design the final character. I also drew some thumbnail sketches before I did the final composition which shows the character on a motorcycle.
The brief I was given is copied below:
Concept: Character Project
Design the main protagonist, Rosetta Stern.
Project Description
A AAA game studio is imagining a new Sci-Fi title with a contemporary, gritty, feel for current gen engines.
The setting is a futuristic city, multicultural, urban sprawl (think Bladerunner (1982)/ TotalRecall (2012)) that teeters on the brink of riots and civil unrest.
The police force is underfunded, understaffed and overworked.
Character Description
Rosetta Stern

Late 20’s/ early 30’s

I started with some basic silhouettes made in alchemy and hand drawn which I then tried to merge the different ideas together. To try and create some interesting silhouettes. Below are some face variations as well as a turnaround sheet of the character from different angles.
On the right are some thumbnail sketches for the final composition of the final composition and below is the final outcome.
